With the wind report for today I knew we had a short window of opportunity to try and get it done.
Got to our first drop and had life right away with a few keeper Fluke & Sea Bass...Unfortunately the Window closed fast as the wind came on with the change of tide.
Started getting nasty with the outgoing and what bite we had instantly died!!!
Headed back to some Mussels up North caught a few more keepers and a ton of sharks. Tough day to say the least. Water temp overnight with the South wind dropped to 64 in the ocean. No Good!
Steve took his second pool in two trips with a nice 3 pound fish. Looking to out do that Bill V. guy who has the record with 4 in a Row last season!
Light NW tomorrow, will give it hell once again. So far I would rate this Fluke season as a Big Crap.

Fished a new area this morning and found some life, A few keepers and some Sea Bass until the wind against Tide forced us to leave the area.
Bounced around till I found a drop I could work. Mr. Kim landed his three along with short action. Several guys had 2 nice fish by days end along with some Sea Bass.
Pool fish made 5 pounds but it still was not easy fishing by any means!!
I know many Customers & new folks coming read my reports so I'm going to put it in writing....
We are fishing Rocky Bottom, if you are not a jigger and know how to get out of being stuck all the time PLEASE listen to me and the crew.....
8-10 ounce sinker with the Meat, Straight down, hit the bottom come up 2-3 cranks, you won't get stuck. When you loose 5-6 rigs or more you are not listening!
The Rigs are designed so the bait is above the Fish......if you notice, their eyes are on top of their head, they will attack anything that floats above them! This is how you fish in the Rocks, it will save you a lot of $$$ and you won't get stuck!!!! God I wish my Dad were here.
So there you have it, we are here to teach so you can catch, simple as that.
WE ARE NOT AVAILABLE TOMORROW MONDAY! Back at it Open Boat on Tuesday.
For the Negative Captains who say there are No Fluke in the Ocean, how do you know when you only fish in the Mud?
Capt. Ron
The Weather Asses did it again today!! 4th time this season, many times last season......Not a drop of rain, Sun came out mid morning, the Beaches were empty and I'm sure all the local Restaurants and attractions suffered.
I was amazed coming up the Beach that the Highlands Bridge had no cars on it at 12:30pm.....Even the Naked beach had lack of participation.
Sad that these clowns can get away with this crap while making $$$$. Meteorologist my Ass....Can't predict Nature, same boat as trying to predict fish populations. You can have all the data you want, yet it's still a crap shoot and most of the time BS!
Oh yea, fishing was terrible once again today. Had some life early slugging away but once again the swell came back on and put the kibosh to what little we had.
NOT AVAILABLE MONDAY THE 11TH THIS WEEK, SORRY.
Capt.Ron
Just enough East Wind to make it uncomfortable today!
Tough pick too say the least with way more shorts than keepers....The shorts have been fatter than the 17 & 18 inch fish the past 2 weeks! I didn't find any one particular area that I could make a second drift so it was search mode all day.
Frank (Lou's younger brother) landed his 3 keepers and Staten Island Tony had the hot hand in the AM with a keeper and a bunch of shorts. Certainly, nothing to brag about but I still have to do a Report.
Fished a couple drops that were stacked with Sea bass figuring the customers would at least go home with dinner....They didn't want to bite either!
Better day's ahead and Thank God my customers know the deal, if they quit on me I'd be dead.
NOT SAILING THIS MONDAY JULY 11TH........
Give it hell tomorrow once again!
Capt.Ron
Had to hit a whole bunch of drops once again today to put some fish in the boat.
Water temp dropped to 66 degrees with that South wind yesterday, even in the shallow water the Sinkers & fish were Ice cold!
Jim lead the way with his 3 Keepers, 11 shorts and a nice Sea Bass along with the Pool fish. Richie also had his 3 and a few guys had Two including Gregg, Chef Lou & Steve. A few nice Sea Bass but we didn't catch what I was reading on several drops.
Wind against all day certainly didn't help, had to power drift in the Ocean for an hour to get some action.
Joe mentioned Today that all the fish we have been catching are very skinny, the white sides are just about Skin!!
Back at it in the AM...
Capt. Ron
